The Spring term of 2026 has been a wonderful term – lots of learning, discovering and having fun every day!
In January we welcomed our 2 new members of staff, Annie and Caitlin! They have built lovely connections with the children and have become valuable members of our team. We look forward to them continuing their journey with us!
The snow and ice were a perfect start to our new year and we had lots of fun exploring and investigating it…..as well as lots of fun playing in it!
Everyone enjoyed our weekly sessions with Tiny Tweeties. There was lots of energy, laughter and learning whilst we had fun singing, dancing and moving! A very big thank you to Chris and Rachael!
In February we celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week, the theme being ‘This is my place’. Our older children went on walks around the local community to look at where they live and special places, whilst our younger children carried out activities to discover what made them happy and sad.
Oak Group and Cedar Group had a wonderful time exploring Forest School, learning new skills and wading through lots of muddy puddles, as well as climbing trees and making forest fairies. It was wonderful to see them growing in confidence week by week!
World Book Day was celebrated in March and we all wore our pyjamas to nursery for a day of ‘bedtime stories’. Their was lots of engagement with everyone talking about their favourite books and stories and we had lots of fun exploring some Julia Donaldson story trays.
We were very proud to announce that Oxclose Community Nursery School achieved the Maintaining Excellence Standard of the Better Health at Work Award in March. Thank you to Lorraine for all of her hard work as Wellbeing Lead.
We celebrated Chinese New Year, learning about this special festival and traditions. We enjoyed making colourful lanterns, looking at Chinese writing and symbols and sampling traditional food.
We also learned about the Hindu festival of Holi, the festival of colours, one of the most fun, colourful and lively festivals in the world. It was a very bright and colourful time in nursery!
We ended the Spring term by celebrating Easter at nursery. We held a huge Easter obstacle course in our garden all while balancing our decorated eggs!
It has been a wonderful, fun filled term – we now look forward to our summer term!
