Roly the Hedgehog

This week, we were very lucky to have a visit from author/illustrator Ben who brought his friend, Roly the Hedgehog to say hello! Ben read us the story of Roly and taught us how to look after hedgehogs in the garden.

We then made hedgehog bread rolls using scissors to cut spikes into our hedgehogs and added raisins for eyes and a nose!

The children explored dissolving with sugar, gravy, vitamin c and sand.
G -“It’s melted”
A -“It’s chocolate, look at me, it’s all sticky”
T – “It’s fizzing, it’s taking ages”
 

Cowboy Bread

Today the children made Cowboy bread.
They worked together to mix the ingredients and then cooked it on the fire.
We talked about how to stay safe around the firepit and enjoyed the bread we made for snack!

Areas of Learning

For those parents who missed their teacher – parent meetings, these are the areas of learning we are supporting your child with this term;

  • Being independent to dress, zip, coat, put on outside clothing.
  • Making relationships, being friends and helping each other learning how to co-operate with their friends.
  • Mathematical development, numbers, recognising numerals, playing counting games.
  • Literacy: writing your name, making marks.
  • Creativity; sensory bags and textured paint.
