I would like to welcome you to Oxclose Community Nursery School.
I hope this website gives you an insight into the care and nurture we offer so that all children
can develop, learn and thrive while they are in our care.
We are a Local Authority Nursery School situated in Washington, a town in Sunderland.
The school currently offers provision for children aged 2 to 4 years old, during school term
time. We are open from 7.30am to 5pm daily, offering breakfast and after school club as
wraparound care.
The school is staffed by qualified teachers, early years practitioners and support staff, all of
whom are dedicated to providing the best possible education for our children.
As a school, we strongly believe relationships with parents and carers are paramount. We
pride ourselves on being approachable and welcoming.
Our curriculum is based around four overarching principles that are key to children’s learning
and development. These are:
- Positive relationships
- Effective Communicator
- Healthy body and mind
- Critical thinking
Inclusion is at the heart of all we do. We have an Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for
children with physical and medical needs. Our children with Special Educational Needs and
Disabilities (SEND) thrive through our high expectations for all.
Our aim is that children leave us ready for the next stage in their education journey as well
rounded, independent, caring individuals with a thirst for learning.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you require any further information.
