An interest in reptiles has developed in the block area and the children have designed a reptile house for the snakes.

Mrs Knight was lucky to know a friend who has a Burmese Python called Snowy and Snowy kindly offered to shed its skin just at the right time. The children have enjoyed measuring the skin and investigating it with magnifying glasses.

We heard comments like:
 “It looks like plastic”
“How did Snowy lose his skin?”
“ He’s massive”
“Gosh it’s long”

This interest was encouraged and furthered as part of the curriculum with the children achieving the following:-

Knowledge and Understanding of the World
· Investigate materials by using all their senses as appropriate
· Show curiosity and interest in objects

CLL
· Use language as a powerful means of widening contacts, sharing feelings and experiences and thoughts
