Nursery Cafe

Some of the children showed an interest in food by writing out food orders and asking members of their peer group what they would like for tea.  This occurred during their role-play sessions, as a result of which a ‘café’ has been introduced to the nursery layout.  The children have all shown a very keen interest in the café with many of them taking on the roles of the ‘cafe staff’ and also the customers.

This activity has allowed the children to engage in

  • topic focused conversations with each other
  • taking turns at the different roles
  • imaginative play
  • problem solving skills
