Children using ICT

The children have enjoyed using our new touch screen computer, everyone is very eager to have a turn.  Staff are promoting good turn taking skills and the children have reacted well when waiting their turn.  The children are currently using a wide range of programmes that are suitable for all children from very simple cause and effect software to more challenging software. 

Part of ICT is using equipment other than computers, for example, torches, cameras and other battery operated toys are all a part of ICT and are part of Knowledge and Understanding of the World section of the EYFS.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

  • Show an interest in ICT.
  • Seek to acquire basic skills in turning on and operating some ICT equipment.
  • Know how to operate simple equipment.
  • Complete a simple program on the computer.
  • Use a mouse and keyboard to interact with age appropriate computer software.
