The Compatibility View Settings are doing strange things to some of the pages, especially those which are displayed in table format such as the Events' Diary 2011/12, this displays properly on one machine I use but on another the tables lose their format and the centre column becomes very wide.

Compatibility mode is a facility available in Internet Explorer 8 & 9 and may be accessed from the menu bar, /Tools/Compatibility View or just below, /Tools/Compatibility View Settings. It adjusts the display on some website pages to improve the users' view of the page.

I don't think there's an easy fix for this, other than setting or unsetting the Compatibility View if you have a problem with a particular page.
